When the Miami Dolphins and New York Jets meet in Week 7, one of the AFC East teams is set for a breakthrough. At 0-5, Miami is still on the hunt for the first win of Jeff Hafley's tenure. But the Gang Green regime is looking to end a slump of its own, as Aaron Glenn is 0-7 against divisional foes after falling to the New England Patriots in Week 6.
Both teams will look far different from their forms in their last meeting, when the Dolphins routed the Jets 34-10 last December. Coming off a bye, Miami is hoping that running back Ollie Gordon II can create a spark for an offense that ranks 31st in scoring. But the Jets have their own issues to sort out on that side of the ball, as New York ranks 32nd in red-zone efficiency and has scored just four
touchdowns in the last three games.

Michael Middlehurst-Schwartz: Jets 24, Dolphins 23
After New York failed to make Garrett Wilson a central part of its game plan against the Patriots, it's time for the Jets to feed its star target. Squaring off against an inexperienced and undermanned Miami secondary should afford offensive coordinator Frank Reich the opportunity to feed his top pass catcher repeatedly and give the Jets offense the finishing touch it's lacked so far this season. Miami's problems protecting Malik Wills could yield another big day for rookie edge rusher David Bailey, who's come on strong in October.
Adam Kaufman: Jets 24, Dolphins 17
Am I excited to trust the Jets as a favorite? Let's not get carried away. But Geno Smith has generally played mistake-free football, and the Dolphins haven't given us reason to believe they can consistently stop an offense that stays out of its own way. Miami gets the benefit of a bye, and Malik Willis can create enough explosive plays to keep this interesting. New York still needs to finish possessions instead of letting productive drives disappear on key downs. Breece Hall's potential return would help, although I'm not assuming it yet. The Dolphins will win eventually. Well, maybe not. Definitely not this week, though.
Jets vs Dolphins picks roundup
Athlon Sports: Jets 20, Dolphins 19
"The game will be decided by three points or fewer. The early total sits below 40 at several books. New York averages 18.6 points and Miami 14. The Jets have the stronger defense, while the Dolphins have the more productive recent running game. Neither team has shown enough passing explosiveness to create confidence in a runaway."
VegasOdds.com: Pick the Jets
"The Jets’ defense will crush an already unstable, slow Fins offense. NYJ has one of the best defenses, and Miami arguably the worst offense. That, plus the home-field edge, is enough for a comfortable Jets win."
Sports Illustrated: Dolphins +5.5
"The Jets certainly have some redeeming qualities, especially on defense, but they're not a team that's going to be winning any blowouts this season. Let's see if the Dolphins can hang with them in this AFC East battle."
