Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams (hamstring) suffered a right hamstring injury midway through the fourth quarter in Week 2 against the Minnesota Vikings.
With 7:27 left in the game, with the Bears down 6-3, he was scrambling to the left, in the red zone, trying to run for a touchdown. He appeared to slip on the wet turf, and he rolled over several times before grasping at his right hamstring. He was carted off, and visibly upset, acknowledging the crowd as he departed.
The good news is that it is a hamstring injury, and not something much worse like an Achilles or knee. He is expected to have an MRI on Monday, Sept. 21, to determine the severity of the injury.
He finished the game by completing 15 of 26 passes for 138 yards, no touchdowns
and one interception, while running five times for 42 yards, including the fateful final run which he was injured. Backup quarterback Tyson Bagent finished up the game for him.

Why it Matters: Williams might be sidelined, but it appears he might have averted disaster, at least. It's the risk of running when the grass is slippery, as there was a driving rain at Soldier Field all afternoon, and the game resulted in a total of four field goals and no touchdowns, so it was ugly. If Bagent takes over, it's bad news in the short term for fantasy receivers like Luther Burden III, Rome Odunze, Colston Loveland, etc. It's also perhaps good news for running backs like D'Andre Swift and Kyle Monangai, as more of the offense might go through them.
