Atlanta Public Schools and Jefferson City Schools are investigating allegations of racist behavior during a high school football game on Friday, Sept. 11, between Jefferson (Ga.) High School and Maynard Jackson High School.
The allegations were first reported by Fox 5 Atlanta and WSB-TV, and later addressed by Sara Tidwell of the Athens-Banner Herald, part of the USA TODAY Network. Atlanta Public Schools issued a statement on Facebook on Monday, Sept. 14, regarding the reports.
"Atlanta Public Schools and Maynard Jackson High School are deeply concerned by reports that members of our marching band were subjected to racist language while departing Jefferson High School and loading buses following Friday night’s game."

Sports on Tuesday afternoon that the investigation remains ongoing.
Additional allegations have also surfaced, including claims that Maynard Jackson football players and band members were spit on and Confederate flags were displayed during the game.
Atlanta Public Schools or Jefferson City Schools have not independently confirmed those additional allegations.
APS said in its statement, however, that no students were physically harmed during the incident.
