With five laps to go, chaos ensued in the NASCAR Cup Series race at Talladega Superspeedway.
While Todd Gilliland was leading the YellaWood 500 on Sunday, Oct. 25 and attempting to hold off a surging Kyle Larson on the bottom lane, the high lane stacked up, and Carson Hocevar gave Joey Logano a bump in the rear, getting him loose and sending him into the wall. Logano’s No. 22 Ford then went airborne after spinning and getting hit by Chase Briscoe.
Logano landed roof-down on the track and slid forward on the asphalt. After crews flipped his car over, he was able to exit under his own power.
The race ended with an overtime finish, with Larson crossing the finish line four-hundreths of a second ahead of teammate William Byron.

“Looks like I just got a little push in the wrong spot there," Logano told USA Sports after exiting the infield care center. "It was very much a 'Talladega Nights’ moment there, ‘Oh no, I’m upside down.’
"Just happy to be alive.”
Several drivers were collected in the crash, including another championship contender in Briscoe. Riley Herbst, who suffered a concussion earlier this season at New Hampshire, had to be helped from his car after taking a hard second hit nose-first into the inside wall.
Logano entered the race 44 points behind Larson, in sixth place in the Chase standings. Two races remain in NASCAR's postseason, with trips to Martinsville Speedway and Homestead-Miami Speedway ahead.
