The third full week of the high school football brought a few upsets and close calls but for the most part, the nation's top teams took care of business.
Many even established themselves as the top program in their respective state to beat going forward.
All of the programs featured in this week's USA TODAY Sports Super 25 rankings have gotten their seasons off and running at this point. A few have out-of-state showdowns this week, but a majority will be staying in-state for matchups with more familiar foes.
A few Super 25 members won't be on the field this week as No. 2 IMG Academy (FL) and No. 9 Bishop Gorman (NV) are off. Here's a look at what Super 25 teams play this week and who they'll be playing.
1. St. Thomas Aquinas (Fort Lauderdale, FL)
Thursday, Sept. 10, at Dillard (FL), 7 p.m.
ET
A monster 326-yard and four touchdown performance from Pitt commit Tyler Reid was just enough for the Raiders to hold off a furious comeback performance in their 31-24 win last Friday. This week's test comes against another Florida school but one that's had its struggles at time this year. Dillard is 2-1 and rebounded from a 10-point Week 2 loss to St. Peter's Prep (NJ) by beating Coconut Creek (FL) 25-20.
3. St. Frances Academy (Baltimore, MD)
Friday, Sept. 11, at Bryant (AR), 7 p.m. CT
The Panthers defense bounced back from their Week 1 showing by blowing out a Vero Beach (FL) side playing without its star quarterback 38-6. This week they'll face another out-of-state opponent and the program many have viewed as the best in Arkansas for the last few years. However, Bryant is off to an 0-2 start following a one-point loss to Benton (AR) and a 44-20 loss to Alexandria (AR) last week.
4. Buford (GA)
Thursday, Sept. 10, vs. Central (FL), 7:30 p.m. ET
Will Jalen Brewster play this week? That's the question Buford fans want to know but regardless of whether he plays or not, the Wolves should be in for a battle. Miami Central had one of the best Week 1 wins of any team in the country, traveling to California and beating Orange Lutheran (CA) 23-22.
5. Santa Margarita (Rancho Santa Margarita, CA)
Saturday, Sept. 12, vs. Inderkum (CA), 8:10 PST
The Eagles built off the momentum from their Week 2 win over Centennial (CA) with a dominant 55-7 win over Highland (CA) a week later. Inderkum opened its season with a 16-point loss but bounced back a week later rolling over Pleasant Valley (CA) 35-6.
6. Columbus (Miami, FL)
Thursday, Sept. 10, at Palmetto (FL), 7:30 p.m. ET
Five-star Miami commit A'Mir Sears nearly led the Explorers to another upset win in their Week 3 showdown with St. Thomas Aquinas but came up seven points short. Now they'll travel to a Palmetto side that's outscored its first three opponents 105-13. It'll also be a chance for some revenge for the Explorers, who lost to Palmetto 24-21 last year.
7. Centennial (Corona, CA)
Friday, Sept. 11, at Mater Dei (CA), 7 p.m. PST
Centennial had the week off following its Week 2 loss to Santa Margarita and things don't get much easier as they travel to Santa Ana. Last year, the Huskies and Monarchs played an instant-classic that Centennial won 43-36.
8. Thompson (Alabaster, AL)
Friday, Sept. 11, at Spain Park, 7 p.m. ET
Trent Seaborn etched his name into Alabama high school football lore in last week's 49-0 win over Vestavia Hills (AL), becoming the state's all-time passing yards leader. The Warriors have run through the first half of their 2026 gauntlet and will face another undefeated team in Spain Park. The Jaguars are 3-0 having outscored their first three opponents 94-34.
10. St. John Bosco (Bellflower, CA)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Kahuku, 7 p.m. PST
St. John Bosco has rolled off back-to-back wins since losing its season-opener to Bishop Gorman. The Braves picked up their first in-state win over Pittsburg last week with a 26-14 victory. They return back home this week hosting a Kahuku Raiders team that suffered its first loss of the season to Junipero Serra (CA) 28-21.
11. Allen (TX)
Friday, Sept. 11, at Southlake Carroll (TX), 7 p.m. CT
Between Ty Snell's almost perfect night throwing the ball and another stout defensive performance, DeSoto had no shot against the Eagles last week as Allen rolled to a 50-6 win. They'll square off with another former Super 25 team that's had its fair share of struggles this season. Southlake Carroll rallied for a huge comeback win Week 1 over Jenks but wasn't as fortunate last week, losing to North Crowley by 30.
12. Carrollton (GA)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Hapeville Charter (GA), 7:30 p.m. ET
The Trojans may have given up a season-high 27 points to Catholic (LA) last week, but they once again had another monster offensive performance scoring 61 points again. Through their first three games, they're averaging 59 points per game. That doesn't bode well for Hapeville Charter as the Yellow Jackets have given up 76 points through their first two games.
13. Baylor (Chattanooga, TN)
Friday, Sept. 11, at Trinity (KY), 7 p.m. ET
Five-star Tennessee running back commit David Gabriel Georges had his best outing of the season so far last week in a win over Rabun Gap-Nacoochee (GA), rushing for 196 yards and three touchdowns. Antwaun "Cornbread" Adams has also been dominant scoring in each of the Red Raiders' games so far this season.
14. Mater Dei (Santa Ana, CA)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Centennial (CA), 7 p.m. PST
The Monarchs had their issues two weeks ago against Orem (UT) but had no issues last week in an impressive 38-22 win over Valor Christian (CO). They'll look to carry that momentum into a showdown with a Centennial side they'll be looking for some revenge against.
15. Waxahachie (TX)
Thursday, Sept. 10, at Guyer (TX), 7 p.m. CT
After a blowout win to open the year, Waxahachie faced a much harder task last week as Coppell gave them all they could handle. Waxahachie pulled out the 27-24-win thanks to a 136-yard and three touchdown night on the ground from Taylen Strange. Guyer has also enjoyed a 2-0 start the year winning by an average of 21.5 points.
16. Hamilton (Chandler, AZ)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Perry (AZ), 7 p.m. MT
Hamilton's defense has been nearly unscathed this season but will face its biggest challenge of the season Friday night as they host Perry. The Pumas are 2-0 thanks in part to the play of quarterback Kael Snyder. Through two games he's 19-of-20 passing for 345 yards and six touchdowns.
17. Sierra Canyon (Chatsworth, CA)
Thursday, Sept. 10, vs. St. Louis (HI), 7 p.m. PST
The Trailblazers returned home last week following an impressive 24-7 road win over Chaminade-Madonna (FL) and had the week off. This week, they return to action against a St. Louis (HI) side that's struggled this season. Alread 0-3 on the year, the Crusaders have been outscored 103-12 in their first three games.
18. North Shore (TX)
Saturday, Sept. 12, at South Oak Cliff, 7 p.m. CT
North Shore's potent rushing attack was once again on display last week as the Mustangs ran for 210 yards and three touchdowns in a 27-17 road win over John Curtis Christian (LA). Stopping the run game was South Oak Cliff's problem in the Golden Bears' season-opener as Randle running Texas five-star commit Landen Williams-Callis rushed for 250 yards against the South Oak Cliff defense.
19. Trinity (Louisville, KY)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Baylor (TN), 7 p.m. ET
Hosting another out-of-state team, the Shamrocks will by far the best offense Baylor has faced up to this point in the season. They opened the season with back-to-back 50-plus point performances in wins over Anderson (OH) and Christian Brothers College (MO). Last week they didn't hit the 50-point mark but did get some revenge avenging their 2025 loss to Archbishop Moeller (OH) with an impressive 31-14 win.
20. Brownsburg (IN)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Avon (IN), 7 p.m. ET
It's rivalry week for the Bulldogs as they host the hated Avon Orioles in a rematch of last year's 55-47 shootout that Brownsburg won. The two met again in the postseason with Brownsburg once again winning 53-29. Brownsburg leads the all-time series between the schools and Avon has not won a game in the series since 2019.
21. North Crowley (TX)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Summer Creek, 7 p.m. CT
After starting the year off with a 26-0 win over Aledo (TX), the Panthers defense was once again dominant in its Week 2 showing, limiting Southlake Carroll's (TX) potent offense to 10 points in a 40-10 win. Summer Creek poses another unique challenge for North Crowley as the Bulldogs rebounded from their season-opening loss by beating Strake Jesuit (TX) 36-6.
22. West Boca Raton (FL)
Thursday, Sept. 10, vs. Cardinal Newman (FL), 6:30 p.m. ET
After shutting out Spanish River last week, the Bulls have one of their biggest challenges on deck against an American Heritage side also off to an unbeaten start. American Heritage quarterback Pedro Martinez has been one of Florida's top quarterbacks this season, completing 73% of his passes for 617 yards and 10 touchdowns.
23. Hough (Cornelius, NC)
Friday, Sept. 11, at Mooresville (NC), 7 p.m. ET
Hough established itself as the top team in North Carolina last week with a dominant 30-3 win over Providence Day (NC). Mooresville is 0-3 on the season but two of the Blue Devils' losses have come by five points or less. They also played Hough close last season with the Huskies holding on for a 28-21 win.
24. Washington (Massillon, OH)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Canisius (NY), 7 p.m. ET
The Tigers faced their biggest challenge of the season in Week 3, holding off NFL London Academy 21-16. This week they'll face another out-of-state opponent as they host a Canisius team that opened its season last week with a 41-14 win.
25. Thomas County (GA)
Friday, Sept. 11, vs. Lithonia (GA), 7:30 p.m. ET
Through two games the Yellow Jackets are averaging 60 points per game. Lithonia opened the season with a 31-point but didn't have that same success last week losing to Lowndes (GA) 22-8.
