A top-10 team in the latest US LBM Coaches Poll went down for the second consecutive week on Saturday, Oct. 3.
No. 8 Florida — which jumped from No. 22 to No. 8 in the top 25 rankings after dominating then-sixth-ranked Ole Miss 52-28 in Week 4 — are set to fall in the rankings after its 45-17 loss to No. 25 Missouri. It was a poor showing for the Gators, who followed up their 302-yard rushing performance against Ole Miss with only 42 total rushing yards against Missouri.
No. 6 Ohio State took care of business against No. 13 Iowa with ESPN's "College GameDay" in town, defeating the Hawkeyes 31-14 on the road behind Jeremiah Smith's 11 receptions for 206 yards
with two touchdowns.
No. 9 BYU and No. 10 Texas Tech, the top two contenders for the Big 12 championship, held on for wins vs. TCU and Colorado despite early scares against unranked opponents.
