The Kansas City Chiefs look to build on a stellar Week 1 performance while the Indianapolis Colts look to forget Week 1 ever happened as the pair of AFC hopefuls meet on "Sunday Night Football" in Week 2 (8 p.m. ET, NBC).
The Colts are coming off a matchup to forget, hardly the effort they wanted to put forth after an offseason in which owner Carlie Irsay-Gordon put the team on notice. Indianapolis QB Daniel Jones will look to buck a primetime trend that has plagued him throughout his career, as teams have posted a 1-15 primetime record in games he's started.
The opposite is true of Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs, who put forth a dominant effort over their division rival Denver Broncos on "Monday Night Football" in Week 1. While Mahomes had some
rust to knock off in the passing game, the legs seemed to work fine, as evidenced by his touchdown scamper. He was also supported by newcomer Kenneth Walker III, who had a monster game on the ground.

Chiefs vs. Colts preview
The Chiefs couldn't have scripted a better Week 1 after some offseason uncertainty surrounded the team. How would Patrick Mahomes look? (Just fine.) How would they handle a Broncos team out for blood? (No problems here.) How would the offense look with Eric Bieniemy back in the OC chair? (Thanks, Kenneth Walker.)
What's more, the Chiefs defense suffocated Bo Nix and the Broncos offense throughout the night, potentially signaling that Steve Spagnuolo's unit still has plenty of juice, even after the departure of cornerback Trent McDuffie.
The Colts will look to find some defensive mojo themselves after allowing 41 points to the Baltimore Ravens in a Week 1 drubbing. Indianapolis' defense didn't just give up the points, but the yards, too. With 506 yards allowed (304 passing, 202 rushing), the unit was beat on the ground and through the air.
That might mean that they'll have to keep pace with an already potent Kansas City offense. Do they have the horses to run? Week 2 should be telling.
