Jimmy Kimmel is riding the "blue tsunami."
The comedian celebrated the results of the midterm elections, which served as a stunning rebuke of President Donald Trump: Democrats won control of both the Senate and the House of Representatives, with the party flipping at least seven Senate seats.
Kimmel's Tuesday show did not air live, and the results were still coming in as he spoke. But it was taped late enough for it to be clear that what the comedian dubbed a "blue tsunami" was occurring.
After Trump had been making headlines for his comments on Sen. Jon Husted's and Nicki Minaj's butts, the only butt "on Trump's mind tonight is the one that just got handed to him," Kimmel quipped Nov. 3.

"It's all looking good for Democrats," he said. "Man, oh
man, would I hate to be the DoorDash driver who delivers Trump his Papa John's tonight.
"Democrats have officially taken the House thanks to President Trump," Kimmel went on to add. "Blob Vila flipped another house. The blue wave made landfall, and now, the red wedding begins. The bad news is I guess we're not getting that $5,000."
In his monologue, Kimmel argued things didn't go Trump's way in the midterms because the president's priorities "are insane" and "have no relation to what Americans are worried about." To make that point, on one side of the screen behind him, he showed a list of issues Americans concerned about, including inflation, war, health care and housing. On the other side, Kimmel put up a list of issues that "MAGA seems to be worried about," including "transgender" and "Black Helen of Troy," the latter referring to Lupita Nyong'o's casting in "The Odyssey."
Kimmel also celebrated the fact that Mike Johnson will be replaced as speaker of the House of Representatives with Democrats in control. Democratic Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries is expected to become speaker.
"I wish they made him leave tonight," Kimmel said. "I would like to see Mike Johnson pack up his stuff and ride away on his Big Wheel tonight."
Kimmel was joined on the show by the hosts of "Pod Save America," a podcast hosted by former aides to President Barack Obama. At the start of the interview, Kimmel noted that things looked "promising" for Democrats and joked there "was a point where I was like, 'Oh, my God, maybe we'll win all of the seats!'"
Former Obama speechwriter Jon Favreau called the midterm outcome the "beginning of the end of the Trump era," drawing cheers from Kimmel's studio audience. Kimmel, though, expressed concern that Trump is going to "get even crazier" in his final two years in office.
"I've been studying him for quite some time, and I feel like he's not going to just give in and go away gently," he said.
Other late-night hosts' reactions to the midterm election results will come later: NBC did not air new episodes of "The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon" or "Late Night with Seth Meyers" on Nov. 3 amid election coverage.
