Chicago Bears quarterback Caleb Williams has officially been ruled "questionable" for his team's Week 6 game. Will he play this week?
Williams had never missed a game across the first two seasons of his pro career before he went down with a hamstring injury in Week 2. Though the injury was initially reported to be a Grade 2 hamstring strain, Williams told reporters earlier this week that he had actually sustained a "pretty serious" hamstring tear.
With his streak of 36 consecutive starts to begin his career snapped in Week 3, Chicago had to lean on the signal-callers further down its depth chart in the last few weeks. But this week, Williams managed to be a full participant every day of practice.
Here's what to know about Williams' status for Week
6:
Is Caleb Williams playing today?
Yes, Williams is expected to start for the Bears in Week 6. If he if still cleared after pregame workouts, the road matchup with the Falcons will mark the first time Williams returns to action since injuring his hamstring in Week 2.
In the three full games without their starting quarterback, the Bears have gone 2-1, with their lone loss coming last week in Green Bay. Third-string quarterback Case Keenum won the first game – a Week 3 "Monday Night Football" game against the Eagles – and backup Tyson Bagent went 1-1 as a starter in the latter two games.
Caleb Williams injury update
Williams was a full participant in practice for the Bears every day this week, but his official game designation was questionable.
NFL insiders Ian Rapoport and Adam Schefter both reported on Saturday, Oct. 17 that Chicago's starter would make his return in Week 6 in Atlanta. Williams reportedly "took the starter reps and is ready to roll," according to Rapoport.
