Rainfall in September in Pittsburgh varies widely depending on the year, NOAA data shows. In the past 10 years, rainfall has ranged between under one inch to 8.5 inches. Between 1948 and 2025, the September with the most rainfall took place in 2004, when the city recorded 10.06 inches. The driest September took place in 1985, when Pittsburgh saw 0.28 inches of rain.
