Josue De Paula made his first start as the Los Angeles Dodgers' leadoff hitter on Tuesday, Sept. 15.
He went 0-for-5 at the plate in the Dodgers' 4-0 win over the Cincinnati Reds.
The 21-year-old designated hitter jumped up into the leadoff spot in place of Tommy Edman, who was originally in the role after Shohei Ohtani's injury woes.
De Paula added to the Dodgers' offense in a game against the Miami Marlins, hitting a three-run home run for his first career homer on Sept. 13.
The 21-year-old De Paula made his major-league debut for the team at LoanDepot Park on Friday, Sept. 11, becoming the youngest Dodgers player since Alex Verdugo on Sept. 2, 2017.
De Paula has been viewed as the organization's top prospect and recently became the first Dodgers
position player called up from AA, while skipping AAA, since Steve Sax in 1981.
