Princess Diana has remained a beloved figure nearly three decades after her death and now her brother is giving readers a deeply personal look at the sister he knew best.
Earl Charles Spencer, 62, announced on Tuesday that his new book, "Swan Song: Diana, My Sister,"
will be released in the United Kingdom next month, offering royal fans a glimpse into Diana's life through the eyes of the brother who grew up alongside her.The book, which will be released Tuesday, Sept. 22, recounts Spencer's childhood with Diana, their bond as the youngest Spencer children and the devastating final days of her life. In July, the late princess would have marked her 65th birthday.
In "Swan Song," Spencer
looks back on growing up with Diana on the family estate, their challenging boarding school years and the turmoil of their parents' divorce. He also reflects on Diana's transformation into a globally recognized royal after marrying the Prince of Wales, now King Charles III, as well as her devotion to her sons and humanitarian work.
The memoir ultimately leads to the tragic events of Aug. 31, 1997, when Diana died in Paris after being pursued relentlessly by the press. Spencer, who delivered his sister's famous eulogy at Westminster Abbey weeks later, offers what he describes as an intimate, loving and honest portrait of Diana and the life they shared.
