"Pawn Stars" star Rick Harrison has been hospitalized following emergency surgery.
Harrison, 61, underwent an unexpected bypass surgery – an operation to restore or reroute blood flow – after going in "for a simpler procedure," a spokesperson for the family told USA TODAY on Friday, Sept. 4.
"He is resting comfortably and looking forward to a full recovery," the spokesperson added. "He is grateful for the doctors and staff at the hospital and that his wife and family can be with him during this time."
At the beginning of the year, Harrison married Angie Polushkin after two years of dating. He also has six children from previous relationships: sons Corey, Adam and Jake, and daughters Sarina, Ciana and Marissa. Adam died from a drug overdose in 2024
at the age of 39.
Known as "The Spotter," Harrison and his family-run Gold & Silver Pawn Shop on Las Vegas Boulevard have been the subjects of the History Channel's "Pawn Stars" since 2009. The show has seen Harrison become a fan-favorite over the years, earning a reputation for his sharp eye for anything fake or stolen.
While most of his kids are not featured on the long-running series, which the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports is set to return in early 2027 following a hiatus, Jake Harrison has made several appearances and Corey "Big Hoss" Harrison is a main cast member working alongside his dad.
Rick Harrison's son suffered medical emergency in January
Earlier this year, Corey Harrison had a medical scare of his own when a motorcycle crash left him with a concussion, 11 broken ribs and facial injuries that required multiple surgeries. In March, he launched a GoFundMe to raise money for the bills, which he said totaled around $120,000.
He later told TMZ that Rick Harrison paid "at least half" of that number, but Corey Harrison said he wanted to raise money to pay the patriarch back. However, Rick Harrison refuted those claims, telling TMZ that he paid "all" of Corey Harrison's medical bills "long before he put the GoFundMe out."
"It's always nice to be paid back, but there is no repayment schedule in place," Rick Harrison added.
Corey then responded, "If he decided I don't have to pay him back the money, then happy birthday to me," but said "based on our personal and business relationship, I don't see how that's possible." He also shut down speculation that the comments indicated tension between the two.
"I love my father very much, he's always been there for me, and I don't have a problem with him at all," Corey Harrison said.
