Noah Wyle and his castmates on “The Pitt” are back at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh to film key exterior scenes for the medical drama’s third season.
Cast members Patrick Ball, Katherine LaNasa and Taylor Dearden joined Wyle Oct. 26 as filming got underway at the hospital.
The production comes on the heels of Wyle’s People magazine Sexiest Man Alive announcement.
Noah Wyle says health care workers feel seen
Speaking with reporters at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh, Wyle said some of the most meaningful feedback about “The Pitt” has come from health care workers and their families.
“One of the really gratifying bits of feedback we get is from families, people that work in this industry who feel like they now understand what the family members do in a way that sometimes
it’s difficult for them to articulate," Wyle said. "So that’s a feeling of feeling seen, feeling heard, feeling valued.”
Wyle also teased a shift for his character, Dr. Robby, who returns from a sabbatical seeking help.
“I think Robby is making his way out of the proverbial pit,” Wyle said, describing him as “a slightly more aspirational Robby than you've met before,” CBS reported.
The cast also offered a glimpse of what viewers can expect when the series returns. LaNasa said her character, Nurse Dana, will have an emotional season.
During filming, the cast was greeted by a massive chalk mural created by Pittsburgh artist Erik Greenawalt, who said he spent about 60 hours on it. The mural will eventually be displayed in downtown Pittsburgh, honoring the city's role in the award-winning series.
When does season three of “The Pitt” arrive?
Season three of “The Pitt” arrives in January 2027 and takes place on Nov. 12, 2026. Wyle said that although a day in the emergency room can be scary, an even scarier day comes next: Friday the 13th.
The date also fits the series’ real-time storytelling format. “The Pitt” uses one-hour episodes to follow a single shift in the emergency room hour by hour. Season three has 15 episodes, depicting 15 hours in the ER over the course of Nov. 12.
