Mary J. Blige is all about "Real Love," and sometimes that means putting your foot down.
The Grammy-winning singer, who's been performing her Las Vegas residency "My Life, My Story," seemingly lashed out at an unruly fan during her Wednesday, Oct. 28, show, according to concert footage obtained by TMZ.
During the encounter, Blige, 55, appeared to take issue with the fan's booing, then chastised the concertgoer with an expletive-ridden rant.
"To the b---- that's booing: You didn't have to come here," Blige said in the video. "So I hope someone sees you and politely removes you. What … did you spend your money for you … idiot."
A few moments later, the singer attempted to make light of the incident with fans. "I'm sorry. Sometimes, I just gotta go in,"
the New York City native told the audience. "Because that's where I'm from."
USA TODAY has reached out to Blige's representatives for comment.
Blige's outspoken remarks drew mixed reactions on social media, with some criticizing her strong language.
"It's a shame Mary was unable to be a role model and politely ask the person whether they could hear properly as a sound check," X user @MsJoanneGreen wrote. "Then, ask people to refrain from booing during the set [and] thank them for going to her show."
"I love Mary J. Blige down, but let her come out saying some goofy [stuff], I would disown her fast," @liljessye wrote on Threads. "I have my own brain, and I don't let no artist, pastors, politicians or ANYBODY rule and regulate my morals and values."
However, other fans praised the singer for standing up for herself during the incident.
"Y'all could never make me hate Mary J. Blige," @reiduponit wrote. "I don't give a damn if she cussed that lady out at her Vegas residency, lol."
"She said what she said!!" @awkward_aj commented.
"Why buy tickets to someone's concert just to show up and boo them?" @djjayerica wrote. "They already got your money, goofy. Glad Mary J. Blige stood on business calling them out."
Blige's next concert is scheduled for Friday, Oct. 30.
