Megan Moroney abruptly ended her July 28 concert in Denver after performing only three songs, leaving audiences surprised.
The country music artist briefly returned to the stage at Ball Arena shortly after to announce she was unable to continue due to ill health, 9News and CBS News Colorado reported.
In a social media post around 9 p.m. local time on Tuesday, July 28, Ball Arena confirmed the show's cancellation, saying, "Megan is unable to continue her performance this evening due to illness, and we must end the show at this time."
"Please allow event staff to direct you to the nearest exit, and we will follow up with more information as soon as we're able," the statement said. "We sincerely apologize for the inconvenience and thank you for your
understanding and cooperation."
'Hardest decision' to make
Posting later to her Instagram story, Moroney addressed the incident, telling fans the decision to end the show "the hardest decision I've ever had to make."
"I'm so sorry to cancel the show tonight," the "Tennessee Orange" singer wrote in her statement on Instagram. "I never ever will give you guys a show that is not 100% and I knew that I was not capable of giving that to you tonight. I'm typing this as I'm quite literally bawling my eyes out in my dressing room & it hurts me to disappoint you all."
Megan Moroney's Denver show rescheduled
Moroney added the show has been rescheduled for Aug. 27 and that all "tickets purchased for tonight's show will be honored for the new date." Those unable to make it to the rescheduled date can get a refund.
"I've never had to do this & I'm truly so sorry," Moroney concluded. The singer, however, did not elaborate on her health or what illness she was experiencing.
Tuesday's show in Denver was part of Moroney's "The Cloud 9's Tour, which began May 29 in Columbus, Ohio. The artist has two more shows lined up this week in Portland, Oregon, on Saturday, Aug. 1 and Seattle on Sunday, Aug. 2.
Earlier in July, Moroney joined the lineup of country stars launching their own fragrances.
On July 9, the singer announced she has partnered with Scent Beauty to create her perfume Calliope, which is named after the muse of epic poetry and song from Greek mythology. The scent, which retails for $55, is described as a floral musk with hints of peach, jasmine and pink peony.
