Six people are dead and nine others, including five first responders, were injured after a three-alarm overnight fire in Brooklyn, New York officials said.
The fast-moving blaze broke out in a two-story house just before 2 a.m. ET on Nov. 5 in the Sunset Park neighborhood, the New York Fire Department reported.
Crews arrived at the scene within four minutes and were met by heavy fire in the basement and the first and second floors, Mayor Zohran Mamdani told reporters during a morning news conference.
Crews rescued four people from the building, NYPD First Deputy Commissioner Daniel Flynn said.
Four residents were pronounced dead at the scene, Flynn said, and two others died after being taken to local hospitals.
All six of the residents were adults,
Mamdani said.
In addition, four civilians suffered injuries, and three firefighters and two police officers responding to the call suffered injuries that were not life-threatening.

The mayor said the blaze was brought under control just before 4:30 a.m. ET.
The fire also displaced eight New Yorkers from nearby buildings, and Mamdani said they had all been rehoused in local hotels.
