That's the question as the 2026 Presidents Cup at Medinah Country Club outside of Chicago tees off on Friday, Sept. 25.
The U.S. grabbed a 3-2 lead when four-ball action was complete on Thursday, Sept. 24, as stars Scottie Scheffler, Justin Thomas and Wyndham Clark were each part of pairings that secured a point. But the Internationals proved resilient playing in front of a revved-up crowd sporting red, white and blue.
Friday play shifts to five foursomes matches, with each player taking alternate shots as opposed to playing their own ball. Both teams have made key changes to their lineup in the wake of Thursday's results.

Wyndham Clark criticizes lack of US fan support at Presidents Cup

But Wyndham Clark was hoping for a little more enthusiasm from fans at the Presidents Cup at Medina Country Club outside Chicago.
The US Open winner was paired with Collin Morikawa and the duo scored a point on Thursday, Sept. 24, the first day of action in the team competition that pits the United States against a group of international players.
But Clark said that the patriotic spirit was lacking from fans in attendance.
"It was kind of dead out there," Clark told reporters after he wrapped up play. "I felt like the momentum could have been better, to be honest, because we weren't really feeling the fans, I think, as much as normal.

When President Trump is expected at the Presidents Cup
01:22 PM ET, September 25 2026, Eric LarsenPresident Donald Trump is expected to attend the Sunday, Sept. 27 singles matches at the 2026 Presidents Cup, marking the first appearance by a sitting U.S. president at the event since his last visit in 2017.
The PGA Tour is planning for Trump to be at Medinah No. 3 outside Chicago after he spends Saturday in Knoxville, Tennessee, for the Texas-Tennessee college football game. His visit is expected to bring heightened security measures and larger crowds as the United States and International teams conclude this year's competition.
Trump was named the honorary chairman of the Presidents Cup last month and announced in a statement in conjunction with the distinction that he would be on hand for the event. There have been six other U.S. presidents to hold the role of honorary chairman at the Presidents Cup: Joe Biden, Barack Obama, George W. Bush, Bill Clinton, George H.W. Bush and Gerald Ford.

Who won Day 1 of the 2026 Presidents Cup?

Jim Cornelison, the legendary singer known to Chicagoans for his thunderous rendition of the "Star-Spangled Banner" at Chicago Blackhawks games, belted out the National Anthem. Military choppers flew overhead as he reached the crescendo. Thousands packed into the stadium-style seating around the first tee at Medinah Country Club roared.
But the rest of Day 1 at the 2026 Presidents Cup proved to be a more restrained experience for the American crowd as the U.S. and International teams went back-and-forth during the first session of matches.
