Apple is gearing up for its biggest event of the year, where the tech giant will announce an array of highly anticipated products.
Apple's annual product announcement event is on Wednesday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. ET. Folks can tune in at home on the Apple website or Apple TV app.
As of Sept. 7, Apple had not confirmed any of the products it would announce during the event, but tech experts have been predicitng what new items could drop, including the iPhone Ultra, the first foldable iPhone.
The event comes a week after longtime executive John Ternus took over as Apple CEO on Sept. 1, succeeding Tim Cook, who announced he was stepping down in April.
Will Apple release the first foldable iPhone?
Apple does not share details of what products it will announce before its annual event but tech experts
and outlets like Forbes, MacRumors and 9to5Mac, which follow the company closely, have predictions.
Front and center is the iPhone Ultra, which would be Apple's first foldable iPhone.
MacWorld reported, based on a source familiar with Apple's plan, that the iPhone Ultra could fold like a book, opening to a landscape view about the size of an iPad mini. The smartphone could feature a 7.7- to 7.8-inch inner display, 5.3- to 5.5-inch outer display and four cameras, MacWorld reported.
Based on information provided by the internal source, MacWorld expects the iPhone Ultra to come with a few compromises too, including no Face ID due to different front-facing cameras when folded or unfolded, no telephoto camera due to the phone's thin design and wireless charging limitations, as the phone may not be compatible with MagSafe or wireless charging ports.
What other products are expected to be announced at Apple's event?
Apple is also predicted to announce a new Home Hub, a smart home device. Resembling an iPad, the Home Hub is rumored to work with Apple HomeKit compatible lights, thermostats, locks, security camera systems and speakers.
There are a few other products expected too, according to MacRumors and 9to5Mac:
- iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max
- Apple Watch Series 12 and Apple Watch Ultra 4
- AirPods 5
- MacBook Ultra, M6 MacBook Pro and M6 iMac
- Apple TV 4K

Apple announces Mac mini ahead of event
On Aug. 25, Apple announced the all-new Mac mini, a desktop computer available with Apple's M6 or M5 Pro system chips. The computer delivers faster performance, more storage and heightened graphics, according to an Apple news release. The computer also features Wi-Fi and Bluetooth capabilities and Apple Intelligence, including Siri AI.
The Mac mini is available for pre-order now and in stores starting Sept. 22.
