A cohort of journalists and government officials is set to gather for a redo of the White House Correspondents' Association Dinner on July 24, three months after the annual event was originally disrupted by a shooting.
At the April 25 event, attended by President Donald Trump and members of his administration, a gunman breached security. He shot a Secret Service agent in an alleged assassination attempt against Trump. Authorities identified the suspected gunman as 31-year-old Cole Tomas Allen, who is facing several federal offenses, including a charge of attempting to assassinate the president of the United States.
In the aftermath of the incident, the correspondents' association planned a redo of the event, and Trump agreed to attend.
Unlike the
April dinner, first lady Melania Trump, Vice President JD Vance and Secretary of State Marco Rubio are unable to attend due to scheduling conflicts.

When is the White House Correspondents' Dinner?
The rescheduled dinner begins at 8 p.m. ET on Friday, July 24.
Part of the program will include a presentation of special awards for individuals who stepped in to help during the shooting at April's dinner, the WHCA said.
Secret Service Police Officer Victor Gonzales, who was shot in his protective vest when the gunman breached security, will receive the President’s Award for Exceptional Service.
Where is the White House Correspondents' Dinner?
While the annual dinner has historically been held at the Washington Hilton, the rescheduled one will be held at a smaller venue, the Waldorf Astoria on Pennsylvania Avenue.
The Secret Service has said it is stepping up security measures for the night.
Staff members from the Washington Hilton will also be honored at the event for their efforts at the April dinner.

Is Trump attending White House Correspondents' Dinner?
Yes, Trump will be attending the redo of the White House Correspondents' Dinner.
At the April dinner, he was set to deliver remarks but was evacuated before doing so. He said in a Truth Social post in June that he will be giving a speech at the second dinner.
"I don’t know whether or not I will give the same rather nasty statements, at least as it concerns certain people, but we will soon find out. In any event, it will be a 'HOT' ticket!" he wrote.
