The Golden State Warriors are keeping superstar Stephen Curry in the Bay Area for at least two more years.
The Warriors announced Friday, Sept. 25 that Curry signed a contract extension with the team. A
person with knowledge of the deal told USA TODAY Sports that the two-time MVP and Golden State agreed on a two-year, $116 million extension with a player option in 2028-29.
The person requested anonymity because they were not authorized to publicly disclose the details.
Throughout the offseason, both Curry and the Warriors have denied any speculation that the four-time champion would be going to another team. Curry was eligible to be a free agent in July 2027, but general manager Mike Dunleavy has continuously expressed the importance of Curry retiring as a Warrior.
The possibility became a definite, concrete answer: indubitably.
