For one final time in 2026, Monday night is free from NFL football. And that will remain the case until almost the middle of January in 2027.
Narrated by Joe Buck and Troy Aikman in the broadcast booth, the ESPN duo is set for a historic season. Unlike in previous seasons, the "Monday Night Football" crew will take fans from Week 1 through Super Bowl 61 at SoFi Stadium in Los Angeles.
It's a doozy of a matchup to kick things off in Week 1, too.
Patrick Mahomes is expected to make his triumphant return for the Kansas City Chiefs when they host Bo Nix and the Denver Broncos. Both teams enter the season with great expectations and one of them will land an early punch in the AFC West race.
Until then, we'll just keep waiting.

There is not a "Monday Night Football" game tonight.
The Chiefs and Broncos will kick off Monday night games on Sept. 14, meaning prime-time action is still one more week away.
