The Cleveland Guardians won the first game of the 2026 American League Championship Series against the Tampa Bay Rays and the teams are right back in action for Game 2 on Tuesday, Oct. 13.
Cleveland now has a 1-0 lead in this best-of-seven series and have won four games in a row after an epic five-game comeback against the Chicago White Sox in the AL Division Series. In Game 1 at Tropicana Field, the Rays jumped in front with two runs in the first inning but the Guardians held firm to tie the game and eventually win 7-3.
"Obviously we came off an emotional series, had a quick turnaround. But these guys come ready to play every day," Guardians manager Stephen Vogt told reporters. "Couldn't be more proud of them."
Left-hander Parker Messick takes
