Kristin Hannah fans have another date to circle on their 2027 calendars.
Along with the major film adaptation of her bestselling novel “The Nightingale,” Hannah will release her first new book in three years.
“The Fire,” announced Sept. 10, will hit shelves May 4 from St. Martin's Press.
Set in America in “our own deeply divided time,” the book follows Merritt Locke, a faithful and devoted wife and mother, according to a statement shared with USA TODAY. After a deep betrayal, Merritt is thrust into the public spotlight. What follows is a transformative cross-country trip where she meets and joins forces with unforgettable women.
“An epic novel that reckons with the history we are all living through, ‘The Fire’ is an anthem to those who feel invisible
and forgotten and a rallying cry for women of every age to stand together to be seen ... and heard,” the statement reads.
“I can’t wait for ‘The Fire’ to launch into the world. I’ve been living with these remarkable female characters for years and I am eager to share their story. I look forward to the conversations this novel will spark about the difficult choices we must sometimes make and the transformative power of finding your voice,” Hannah said.
Hannah is the author of 25 novels, including the multimillion-copy bestsellers “The Nightingale” and “The Women.” The theatrical release of “The Nightingale,” starring Elle and Dakota Fanning, is scheduled for March 19. Warner Bros. also plans to adapt “The Women.”
