A woman was shot dead by officers yesterday after police say she stabbed two people in the middle of Times Square late Monday afternoon, killing one and injuring another.
Here is what is known so far about the suspect.
Times Square stabbing
Around 4:30 p.m. Monday, police took calls about a woman holding two knives and stabbing people along 7th Avenue, the NYPD said. First, police say, the suspect went up to a man just leaving the subway with his wife and waiting to cross the street, stabbing the 68-year-old in his abdomen. Police Commissioner Jessica Tisch said the attack was seemingly "random and unprovoked," and that the man was in stable condition Monday night.
Tisch says the suspect then went up to a 32-year-old woman and stabbed her in the stomach in another random
attack. She was pronounced dead at a nearby hospital.
According to police, the stabbings happened less than 30 seconds apart. As officers approached the woman, Tisch said the woman repeatedly threatened to kill them, and began waving the knives at police. Multiple tasers were discharged at the scene, police say, which did not stop the woman.

Two officers then shot the suspect, and she was later pronounced dead.
What is known on the Times Square stabbing suspect
Police say the suspect was identified as 49-year-old Pamela Cisneros, who lived in Queens.
Tisch said that the woman had a "documented mental health history" with police. One incident occurred in 2018, and another in 2019.
Although the two incidents were documented, she had no arrest history with the NYPD.
