Chips Ahoy! is challenging cookie lovers to put their taste buds to work by asking them to crack the case of its first-ever Mystery Cookie.
The new limited-edition treat with a hidden flavor launched July 30. It includes a redesigned package featuring an unidentifiable cookie wrapped in caution tape, signaling that a secret flavor is inside.
Chips Ahoy! said the new cookie was created to appeal to younger snackers by combining a classic treat with gaming-inspired elements and online engagement. In addition to being a fun interactive guessing game, the company said the cookie lover who guesses the flavor correctly will win a $25,000 grand prize.
“For Gen Z, snacking and gaming aren’t just pastimes, but how they connect, recharge and build community,”
Mili Laddha, senior director of marketing at Mondelēz International, which owns Chips Ahoy!, said in a statement. “With the Chips Ahoy! Mystery Cookie, we’re leveling up the snacking experience to match their energy.”
Where to buy the Chips Ahoy! Mystery Cookie
The limited-edition cookies first became available July 30 through SnackWorks’ TikTok Shop, marking the first time Chips Ahoy! has launched a product through the platform.
The cookies will begin rolling out to retailers nationwide Aug. 10 and will be available for a limited time.
Fans can guess the flavor for a chance to win $25,000
Fans who believe they have solved the mystery can submit their guesses by scanning the QR code on the package or visiting chipsahoymystery.com.
Anyone interested can submit their flavor guesses for a chance to win a $25,000 grand prize, and they do not need to correctly identify the cookie’s flavor to be eligible for the sweepstakes.
Some early tasters have already shared their theories. Allrecipes reported that one reviewer who tried the cookie guessed it had a vanilla cupcake-inspired flavor, describing notes of birthday cake and buttercream frosting without the familiar taste of sprinkles.
Chips Ahoy! will reveal the cookie’s true flavor Oct. 31, giving fans until Halloween to solve the case.
