Shopping at Target during the upcoming holiday season may be more affordable than some expected, as the popular retailer plans to lower prices on nearly 2,000 items.
On Sept. 29, Target announced it is reducing prices on select home items, apparel and accessories, building on more than 10,000 items the company has lowered prices on over the past year.
The announcement comes a month after Target announced the launch of Target Beauty Studio, a redesigned beauty and cosmetics department unveiled at more than 600 Target stores. The Target Beauty Studio features more than 1,600 makeup, skincare, fragrance and haircare products from 90 prestigious and emerging brands; Beauty Advisors available to help shoppers; product testing common at beauty stores like
Sephora and Ulta; and exclusive Target Circle offers, according to a news release.

What items did Target lower prices on?
Target lowered prices on select women's, men's, infant and toddler apparel and shoes, including Universal Thread, A New Day, All in Motion and Cat & Jack, Target told USA TODAY via email on Sept. 29. In addition, an assortment of bedding will be discounted, according to a news release. Here's a closer look at some of the price-reduced items:
- Women's long-sleeve tees (down to $12 from $15)
- Women's shoes (average $35 compared to $40)
- Kids' rain and winter boots (down 15% from last year)
- Threshold queen comforters (down to $69 from $89)
- Threshold performance queen sheets (down to $50 from $55)
- Room Essentials queen comforters (down to $40 from $50)
Items' pricing and availability may vary per location and on the Target website, a news release states.
When do the lowered prices go into effect?
The price reductions are in effect as of Sept. 29.
Target's next Circle Deal Days are coming soon
The retailer's next Target Circle Deal Days are on Tuesday, Oct. 6, and Wednesday, Oct. 7. Target Circle members receive up to 40% off on select:
- Apparel
- Shoes
- Women's handbags and wallets
- Sport Fan Shop items
- Halloween costumes and decor
- Christmas decor and lights
- Laptops
- Floor care items
- Storage and organization items
- Toys
Target Circle members will also receive up to 30% off on Hearth & Hand items, Threshold furniture, skin care and cosmetics, hair care products and tools and baby home gear, according to the Target website.
New Target Circle members also receive up to 15% off one shopping trip, available through Oct. 5.
