The cause of death for "All That" child actress Christy Knowings has been released weeks she died at 46.
Knowings died Aug. 11, four days after she was admitted to a hospital, according to a death certificate
obtained by People on Sept. 2. Her cause of death was reportedly cardiac arrest, with acute hypoxic respiratory failure and status asthmaticus , or severe asthma, listed as contributing conditions.
Respiratory failure occurs when the blood doesn't have enough oxygen or or there is too much carbon dioxide present, according to the National Library of Medicine's MedlinePlus.
"Christy was a multi-talented lady," her manager, Al Hill, told Variety in an Aug. 13 statement. "Whether it was singing, acting, dancing, she was always creating. Always professional and dedicated to her work."
A relative of Knowings previously told TMZ that the actress was hospitalized following an asthma attack on Friday, Aug. 7, and put on life support.
The New York City-born actress played various roles, including opposite Amanda Bynes in the recurring "Whateverrr!!!" segment and as newscaster Brenda Stone in "Channel 6 1/2 News," in her three seasons on the children's sketch comedy series "All That."
Knowings was on the program from 1997 to 2000. She also appeared in three episodes of "Sesame Street" between 2008 and 2011, acting alongside her twin brother, Chris Knowings.
Her "All That" costars, including Kenan Thompson, Josh Server and Alisa Reyes, shared tributes to Knowings after her death became public.
"She was a real one and one of the funniest people out here!!! Gonna miss you buddy!!!" Thompson wrote in an Aug. 13 Instagram post.
