Eagle-eyed viewers may do a double take when they see Barcelona taking the field Tuesday, Oct. 20 for a marquee Champions League showdown with Paris Saint-Germain.
The Blaugrana won't be wearing any of their three jerseys for the 2026-27 season. Instead, they'll be sporting last season's orange third kit for the match at Parc des Princes.
But why will the La Liga champions be wearing last year's jersey? Read on.
Why is Barcelona wearing last season's kit vs PSG?
Barcelona has been forced into the change because all three of its kits for this season have been deemed to clash with PSG's home kit.
PSG will wear its dark blue jersey with a large red stripe, meaning Barcelona's blue and red home kit is out. In addition, Barca's black and purple away kit and its blue and teal alternative kit are also
too similar.
That has seen Barcelona move to its orange kit from last season.
Barcelona used its orange kit in its official match promotional material, featuring Lamine Yamal, Pedri and Anthony Gordon in last season's jersey.

What are UEFA's rules on kit clashes?
Article 9 of the UEFA Equipment Regulations states: "In order to minimize color clashes, there must be a clear contrast between each team’s first-choice and second-choice outfield player attires, to the extent that they could be worn by opposing teams in a match.
"If one playing attire comprises predominantly dark colors, the other must comprise predominantly light colors, or if one of the playing attires is hooped, banded, striped or checked, the other must not contain either of the colors of the hoops/bands/stripes/checks."
Additionally, the home team will always have the first priority when it comes to kit selection. With PSG choosing its home kit, Barcelona was forced into the change.
