Cincinnati Bengals starting quarterback Joe Burrow was not a full participant in his team's first practice of Week 2.
Burrow sat out of Cincinnati's team stretch during the practice session, and he did not throw any meaningful passes in view of media, according to the Cincinnati Enquirer, part of the USA TODAY network.
The Bengals' starter told reporters after practice that he was dealing with back soreness. Burrow was also quick to quell any concerns that he might not play against the Houston Texans on Sunday, Sept. 20.
"If I'm not getting surgery, I'm going to be out there," Burrow said.
During his media availability, the 29-year-old veteran classified his ailment as "normal game day soreness." Asked about whether he'd sit out of Week 2's game out of precaution,
Burrow said, "That's ridiculous."

Burrow dealt with what he called "back soreness" in his first practice after Week 1's win over the Buccaneers. Despite skipping a team stretch and not throwing real passes during the Sept. 16 practice, Burrow appears to be in line to play Week 2.
The Bengals' starter classified any thought of sitting Week 2 as a precaution "ridiculous" and said that he plans to play on Sept. 20.
"If I'm not getting surgery, I'm going to be out there," Burrow said.
On Monday, Sept. 14, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor told reporters that some players would be limited in practice to start the week but that there were no major injuries. Paul Dehner Jr. of The Athletic also reported that Burrow was able to throw normally with backup quarterback Joe Flacco "about 15 yards apart" before the team stretch.

Flacco is back as Burrow's backup quarterback after the Bengals traded for him early last season. He signed a one-year, $6 million contract in the offseason to stay in Cincinnati.
The Bengals also have veteran journeyman Josh Johnson on their practice squad. It's his third stint with Cincinnati after previously spending time with the team in 2013 and 2015.
