Largely untested for much of the season, many expected Thompson (AL) to face a stiffer test Friday night as the Warriors hosted undefeated Prattville (AL).
As expected this game lived up to the hype. What likely wasn't expected was the final outcome.
Blocking a field goal with 28 seconds remaining, the Lions handed the Warriors, the No. 10 team in the latest USA TODAY Sports Super 25 rankings

Prattville struck early and forced Thompson to play from behind as the Lions took a 9-0 lead midway through the first quarter. From there, the teams traded touchdowns back and forth for the rest of the night.
Down by seven with just over eight minutes remaining, Thompson senior running back CJ Cowley busted off a 20-yard touchdown run that looked like something more out of a video game than real life. However, the extra point attempt veered wide right preserving the Lions' lead.
Prattville had an opportunity to put the game away late in the fourth quarter opting to go for it on fourth down. The pass in the end zone fell incomplete and Thompson took over on its own 26 with 2:06 remaining.
Thompson senior quarterback and ALL-USA Southeast selection Trent Seaborn began to methodically dice the Prattville defense apart leading the Warriors down the field with ease. With less than 40 seconds remaining, Seaborn had the Warriors on the Prattville five and the comeback looked all but certain.
Senior kicker Ethan Black came out to attempt the 21-yard field goal but a host of Prattville players led by Elijah Brown broke through Thompson's line blocking the kick.
Prattville was whistled for unsportsmanlike conduct as the players and coaches celebrated but with Thompson only having one timeout remaining, the Lions were able to kneel out the clock, ending Thompson's 12-game winning streak.
