An 18-year-old in Georgia was arrested after police said they found the dismembered remains of a woman, according to authorities and local news reports.
The "shocking crime" was uncovered on Sept. 23, Lt. Meredith Holt with the Smyrna Police Department said. Police responded to a missing person call at Park Valley Apartments at about 8:15 p.m. that evening, according to a statement from the police department. While investigating, they discovered the body of a woman, police said.
Kingston Bradley, 18, has been arrested and charged with malice murder and concealing the death of another, police have said.
Local news outlets including 11 Alive and Atlanta News First reported that according to an arrest warrant, Bradley was seen by a witness carrying
a plastic tub in the apartment complex, and dropped it and ran away when he saw the witness. Police found a dismembered torso inside, the outlets reported.
On Sept. 25, police said in a new release they were conducting a search warrant on a vehicle and discovered garbage bags in the trunk.
"One garbage bag was pulled tightly showing the outline of a body part," the release said.
The county medical examiner opened the bags and confirmed body parts were inside, police said.
"This is a particularly gruesome crime. I cannot imagine what the family is going through," Holt said at a news conference.
The victim is believed to be Shanteria Mosley, who went by "KT," police said. Mosley worked for DoorDash, Holt said. She was 26, family members told 11 Alive.
Holt said investigators are working to determine whether and how Mosley and Bradley knew each other.
It was not clear if Bradley had an attorney who could comment on his behalf. USA TODAY has reached out to an attorney listed in court records as representing him on prior charges. He was previously charged with terroristic threats and acts, battery and trespassing for an alleged incident in December 2024, Cobb County criminal court records show.
