From Arizona's flag football season opener to Kansas settling in to its inaugural season, more and more players are making their mark on the field.
And with more players comes more talent — and that was certainly on display this week.
A reminder that this list is decided based on single-game performances by players on teams that made the USA TODAY Sports National Super 25 rankings this week — we know there are a ton of incredible performances beyond those confines, but our focus lies there for now.
Let's take a look at the performances behind the USA TODAY Sports Top IX from Week 3, listed alphabetically:
Capri Cuneo, No. 2 Orange Lutheran (CA)
Orange Lutheran is one of the most dominant teams in high school flag football right now, and its elite defense is a huge reason why. On Tuesday,
Cuneo grabbed not one, not two, but three interceptions, powering the Lancers to a 26-20 win over Santa Margarita. The junior now has 18 interceptions on the season.
McKenzie Edison, No. 6 Willowbrook (IL)
Willowbrook is still riding an undefeated season, and Edison is helping to keep that slate clean. In the Warriors' 40-20 win over Stagg, Edison managed to rack up 247 yards and three touchdowns on just six targets, averaging 41.2 yards per catch.
Reagan Harter, No. 23 The Classical Academy (CO)
It's impossible to watch The Classical Academy without seeing the skills of Reagan and Kennedy Harter. But this week, Reagan's performance earned her a spot in the Top IX Playmakers after hauling in four receptions for 108 yards and two touchdowns and a sack in the Titans' 52-14 win over Coronado.
Alyssa McClure, No. 2 Orange Lutheran (CA)
Orange Lutheran won all three of its games at the inaugural MaxPreps Flag Football Showdown last weekend, and McClure was at the helm. Her most dominant performance came in the Lancers' 21-7 victory over then top-ranked Central (AL) when she threw for 223 yards and three touchdowns to hand the Red Devils their second loss of the weekend and second loss in four years.
Lacie Nemchick, No. 12 Gilbert Highland (AZ)
Nemchick had high expectations coming into this season, and she showed just why in Gilbert Highland's season-opening 41-16 win over Campo Verde. She completed 23-of-32 passes for 295 yards and four touchdowns and added another 54 yards and two touchdowns on the ground. In the offseason, Nemchick received an offer from Nebraska, becoming the first Arizona prep to receive a Power Four varsity scholarship.
Alexzandria Richardson, No. 14 St. Charles North (IL)
St. Charles North is another Illinois team who has yet to lose a game, and Richardson's dominance on both sides of the ball are a big reason why. In last week's win over Oswega, Richardson was all over the field, rushing for 50 yards and one touchdown and adding another touchdown and 90 yards through the air. On the other side of the ball, she had three sacks.
Tessa Russell, No. 1 JSerra (CA)
While she's only a sophomore, Russell has been quite the playmaker for USA TODAY Sports' top-ranked team. And when JSerra faced the No. 3 Newport Harbor in the MaxPreps Flag Football Showdown last weekend, Russell still wasn't fazed. She totaled 108 yards and two touchdowns through the air, her first of which she juked out five defenders on her way to the endzone in a play that landed among USA TODAY Sports Plays of the Week.
Sophia Silverstein, No. 10 Marana (AZ)
Another Arizona playmaker joins the list in the state's opening week of flag football. The sophomore totaled 110 yards through the air and caught three of the Tigers' five touchdowns. But that's not all. On the defensive side of the ball, Silverstein had four flag pulls and hauled in an interception. How's that for a season-opening performance?
Kaelie Tomalak, No. 14 St. Charles North (IL)
When St. Charles North defeated Oswega last week, Richardson wasn't the only two-way playmaker on the field. Senior quarterback Tomalak completed 15-of-27 passes for 229 yards and four touchdowns and added 53 yards on the ground. To cap off her exceptional performance, she also grabbed one of the North Stars' two interceptions on the day.
