Brandin Podziemski will be in The Bay for a while longer.
The Golden State Warriors have agreed to a five-year contract extension with their starting shooting guard in a deal reportedly worth $110 million.
ESPN's Shams Charania reported the news on X on Saturday, Oct. 10, citing Podziemski's agent, Bill Duffy of WME Basketball. The rookie-scale extension is fully guaranteed with a mutual option in the fifth year and a trade kicker.
The Warriors confirmed to USA TODAY Sports that the team agreed to a new contract with Podziemski.
In 2023, Podziemski, 23, was Mike Dunleavy Jr.'s first draft pick after he was promoted to the role of general manager. The former Santa Clara standout was the No. 19 overall pick in the same draft class as Victor Wembanyama,
who the San Antonio Spurs took No. 1 overall that year.
In his three seasons in the NBA, Podziemski serves as a bridge between generations and has worked his way into the starting lineup alongside Stephen Curry. The 12-time All-Star signed his own contract extension for two years and $116 million last month. Draymond Green returns to the squad and Jimmy Butler is recovering from a torn ACL. Expectations are high for rookie Yaxel Lendeborg, who was drafted No. 11 overall.
Podziemski will be playing in the last year of his rookie contract this season. His extension will kick in next season.
