The pressure heats up in the fourth and final round of the BMW Championship, the second event of the FedEx Cup playoffs.
Wyndham Clark has the lead
leading into action on Sunday, Aug. 23 at Bellerive Country Club in St. Louis. He sits alone at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 17-under. The U.S. Open champion started the third round with a double bogey, but balanced it out with an eagle and soared with six birdies.Rory McIlroy is tied for second after carding a 5-under-par 65, moving up six places in the third round. He had six birdies and one bogey.
Clark and McIlroy will play together in the final round.
The field is loaded with big names since only the top 50 golfers in the FedEx Cup points standings after last week's FedEx St. Jude
Championship qualified for the BMW Championship.
The top 30 golfers in the FedEx Cup standings after the final round will move on to the Tour Championship in Atlanta later this week. It means there's intrigue atop the leaderboard, as well as on the bubble, as the world's best try to make it to the third and final competition. Patrick Cantlay, Rickie Fowler and Justin Thomas are among those battling for the final spots to close out the FedEx Cup playoffs.

There is a $20 million purse on the line at the 2026 BMW Championship, with the winner of the second FedEx Cup playoff event set to take home $3.6 million. Even the last-place finisher is guaranteed $66,000 with no cut and a 50-golfer field.
