Just a few weeks after Kennywood Amusement Park kicked off its annual Halloween festivities, the Pittsburgh-area park earned a top-5 spot among the theme parks celebrating spooky season around the country.
Kennywood's Phantom Fall Fest was chosen as one of the best theme park Halloween events in USA TODAY's 10BEST Readers' Choice Awards for 2026.
It's not the first time Kennywood's Halloween event has made the list, but this year, it climbed the list to its highest ranking yet. Phantom Fall Fest ranked at No. 9 on USA TODAY's 10BEST list of best theme park Halloween events in 2025 and received an honorable mention in 2024.
Here's where it ranked
this year.
Kennywood ranks at No. 4 for best Halloween event at a theme park
Located just outside Pittsburgh in West Mifflin, Kennywood ranked at No. 4 for its Halloween festival. Here's what the 10BEST Awards said about the event:
"Balancing family-friendly fun during the day with more intense scares as the night progresses, Phantom Fall Fest at Kennywood has Halloween thrills for everyone. After the sun sets, traverse seven sinister haunts and four scare zones filled with full-on frights. Seasonal food and specialty drinks are fun wind-down treats after riding the Phantom's Revenge, which is especially scary surrounded by a thick fog in the dark of night."
The festival runs from Sept. 12 through Nov. 1
