Alabama quarterback commit Elijah Haven put on a senior season debut that showed why he's arguably the best quarterback prospect in the nation.
On Friday, Sept. 4, he opened Dunham's (Baton Rouge, LA) season by leading the Tigers over Parkway (Bossier City, LA) 56-15, accounting for 350 passing yards and six total touchdowns. He had passing touchdowns of 19, 14 and 11 yards and ran it in from 16, 14 and 3 yards out to lead the way for the Tigers.
His first touchdown was a nice throw and a stunning catch by receiver William Dantin to take a 7-0 lead and put the early pressure on Parkway.
Parkway answered, but Haven's legs did more damage than those three TD runs. He moved the ball downfield on designed runs, and with his speed and agility, burst
around defenders.

Haven, the No. 23 player on the USA TODAY Sports composite, was the Preseason ALL-USA First Team quarterback. He is coming off a phenomenal junior year in which he passed for 3,931 yards and 62 touchdowns while completing 72.3% of his passes, and rushing for another 794 yards and 11 touchdowns. His 73 total touchdowns set a Louisiana single-season record.
Over his three-year career, he has 9,274 passing yards and 2,375 rushing yards entering this season, needing a little more than 2,500 yards to break the state record for total offensive yards.
Listed at 6-foot-5 and 235 yards, Haven has the size, arm and athleticism to thrive at the next level. We've already seen him do it at the high school level, and after his 400-plus total yards and six-touchdown performance in the first game of his senior year, he'll remain in the conversation for best quarterback in the class throughout this year — and perhaps even end the conversation.
