Inclement weather threatens to play a major role once again in the American League Championship Series as Game 4 between the Tampa Bay Rays and the Cleveland Guardians continues in Cleveland.
Thursday’s ALCS Game 3
was moved up by five hours to avoid severe conditions, but Friday brings more uncertainty as forecasts predict another wave of heavy rain and gusty winds that could further disrupt the series.According to AccuWeather, Cleveland will experience mostly cloudy skies and strong winds, with periods of heavy showers expected to impact activities throughout the day. The unsettled weather is expected to persist into Friday evening, with temperatures in the low 50s at the scheduled 8 p.m. game time.
Sports Business Journal reported that MLB
officials spent much of Thursday, and will continue on Friday morning, deliberating whether to proceed with Game 4 as scheduled or "proactively postpone it." Their main concern is that further delays could disrupt the remainder of the series and potentially eliminate a vital travel and rest day ahead of a possible Game 6 back at Tropicana Field in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Cleveland currently holds a 2-1 series lead heading into Friday’s Game 4. Despite the looming weather threat, the 8 p.m. ET start time remains unchanged as of Friday morning.
Will the forecast impact ALCS Game 4?
As of Friday morning, Major League Baseball has not altered the start time for Game 4 of the American League Championship Series between the Cleveland Guardians and the Tampa Bay Rays. The game remains set for 8 p.m. ET on Friday, Oct. 16, despite ongoing weather concerns.
