"Hockeytown" may be emblazoned on center ice of the Detroit Red Wings' barn, but with each passing game that's becoming more a misnomer.
In the second period of the Wings' game against the Seattle Kraken at Little Caesar's Arena, the Red Wings picked up a 2-1 lead that was wiped out 39 seconds later by Frederick Gaudreau. Two minutes and 20 seconds later, it was 3-2 Seattle as Mackie Samoskevich found the net. Forty-five seconds later, it was 4-2 following another Gaudreau goal. And 6:21 after that, Ben Meyers finally ran starting goalie John Gibson after five goals allowed on 15 shots.

Gibson, who is in the last
year of the contract the Red Wings inherited from the Anaheim Ducks, was replaced by veteran Daniil Tarasov, whom the Red Wings acquired this offseason on a one-year deal.
While Gibson's glove side was the primary culprit of Oct. 9's debacle, there are serious problems with the team's blue line. Simon Edvinsson still isn't with the team as he holds out for a new contract or a trade, forcing Albert Johansson onto the top pair with Moritz Seider. From there, the team's defense is painfully thin, as evidenced by the range from which most of the Kraken's goals came.
The Wings, who entered this game 1-2 and are yet to play a road game this season, will be looking for answers in this game and beyond. For the time being, however, they'll have to continue to endure one of the most hostile home environments in the team's history until they manage to find some.
