On Tuesday, Nov. 3, millions of voters across the country will decide in the midterm elections which political party will control one of the three branches of American government for the next two years.
That same day, another group of voters will make an admittedly less weighty decision, with the latest United Soccer Coaches poll set to be released after an eventful week of games.
No. 1 SMU narrowly remained unbeaten after scoring a goal in the 87th minute from Landon Hickam to eke out a 1-1 tie against No. 10 Louisville on Friday, Oct. 30. Thanks to a brace from Matthew Van Horn, No. 2 Georgetown stretched its win streak to 10 games with
a 5-3 victory over No. 9 Creighton to hand the Bluejays their first loss of the season.
No. 3 Clemson knocked off No. 16 Wake Forest, 2-1, in a matchup of top-20 teams. No. 4 Indiana made the cross-country trip and knocked off No. 22 UCLA, 3-1, with the help of two goals from Oliver Moller-Jensen.
Not everyone in the top five of the rankings came away unscathed. No. 5 UMKC wrapped up its regular season with a 4-0 loss to Omaha, dropping its record to 11-3-2. Here's a look at the latest United Soccer Coaches poll on Tuesday, Nov. 3:
