It'll be the Tennessee Titans (0-2) vs. the New York Giants (1-1) vs. Mother Nature (undefeated) on Saturday at MetLife Stadium.
A nor'easter has devoured the East Coast this weekend, with damaging winds and rain playing into the forecast. While plenty of weekend plans have been ruined, the most directly impacted NFL game is the Giants vs. Titans Week 3 matchup.
Originally something of a revenge game for Titans OC Brian Daboll, the Titans enter the matchup looking to get into the win column but will have to battle the elements as well as the Giants to get there.
Here's what to know about the weather on Sunday in East Rutherford, New Jersey:
Giants vs. Titans weather updates
The Giants vs. Titans matchup is currently on as scheduled as the game nears its 1 p.m. ET kickoff.
Light rain
is currently falling in East Rutherford, but it should weaken as the game progresses. Winds are at 16-20 mph but gusts may reach up to 40 mph. That means to expect less passing and more rushing in this matchup than usual.
Given the nasty weather in the area, get-in prices are as cheap as $9. The weather plays a big part in that, as well as the injury to Jaxson Dart, who is done for the regular season with a knee injury.
Giants vs. Titans forecast
The weather forecast for East Rutherford, New Jersey calls for plenty of wet weather and gusty winds as the players take the field on Sunday. Here's a look from the National Weather Service:
"Showers. High near 67. Breezy, with a northeast wind 16 to 23 mph, with gusts as high as 39 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible."
The good news is that there are no thunderstorms expected during the game, which may have played into delays.
NFL weather rules
Rule 17, Articles 4 through 11 of the NFL rulebook details emergencies, which includes weather. The power to suspend or delay a game rests in the hands of NFL officials, and the Commissioner (Roger Goodell) "has the authority to review the circumstances of each emergency and to adjust procedures in whatever manner the Commissioner deems appropriate."
