Brightline trains will keep running, even as its "parent entities" declared bankruptcy.
In a Sept. 25 press release
, the company announced that "supporting stakeholders" have agreed to provide $490 million of "long term capital" to Brightline Trains Florida, and that "certain Brightline parent entities will commence prearranged Chapter 11 processes in the United States Bankruptcy Court for the District of New Jersey."Brightline trains run from Miami to Orlando, with stations in West Palm Beach, Fort Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Aventura.
Will Brightline trains continue running, are tickets still valid?
Miami-to-Orlando "rail operations are not impacted," according to a Sept. 25 press release by the company.
The release added that the company will pursue "multiple growth initiatives," which include the "development
of additional stations along its corridor." It also seeks to expand the "passenger rail system from the Orlando station to Tampa."
"This is a financial restructuring that is not expected to impact operations," said Nicolas Petrovic, Chief Executive Officer of Brightline Train Development LLC, an affiliate of Brightline. “It will give Brightline the balance sheet to match the growth we’re already seeing across the business. Brightline continues to grow and the business is strong.”
