Princess Kate's flowing gown caused a slight issue at the royal state banquet.
The butter yellow dress, by Lebanese designer Elie Saab, became trapped under the future queen's chair leg as she sat down for an elaborate dinner at Windsor Castle on Tuesday, Oct. 20, where Britain's royals welcomed the Sultan of Oman for a state visit.
The banquet, which served up pot-roasted Windsor pheasant and Windsor estate honey ice cream, closed out the first day of Haitham bin Tariq's three-day visit, which was requested by the British government.
As Kate took her seat at the three-course meal, which was hosted by King Charles III and Queen Camilla, eagle-eyed royal watchers were quick to spot the fashion mishap, taking to social media to point it out.
"Don’t
stand up Catherine, your dress is trapped under your chair," one user wrote on X. "Catherine's chair leg is on her dress, by the looks of it,"wroteanother. Another person summed up the moment in one word: "Whoops."
Kate, 44, paired the lemon colored dress with her go-to royal headpiece, the Queen Mary's Lover's Knot Tiara. She was seated next to the sultan, while the queen and William sat opposite, either side of the crown prince.
I just noticed that Catherine’s gown seems to have been caught under the leg of her chair at the State Banquet. Whoops. 👀 pic.twitter.com/Zu3CyZ0Oz3

Princess Kate green dress turns heads for state visit
The princess went through a least three outfit changes on Tuesday as she was placed front and center of the historic royal event. Earlier that day, Kate stepped out in head-to-toe green, along with an elaborate hat and sentimental royal brooch, once worn by her late mother-in-law, Princess Diana.
King Charles speaks Arabic, praises Prince William during speech
Despite the drama with the dress, Kate was seemingly unfazed. The mother-of-three was photographed listening intently to the king's speech, in which he celebrated the ties between both nations, while also praising her husband Prince William for his role in royal diplomacy.
The king said he was "especially delighted" to witness his eldest son William's friendship with the sultan's son, Crown Prince Sayyid Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said.
"There can be few happier symbols of success than a living relationship being passed on from one generation to the next,” Charles said as some 160 guests looked on.
The monarch also spoke Arabic as he addressed the sultan inside the historic castle's St George’s Hall, saying, "welcome to a visitor of whom one never tires."
Kate was later photographed standing up talking to guests, with her dress seemingly unscathed despite its time spent pinned to the floor.
Royals put on united front as Prince Harry says he is grieving father, brother
As senior members of the royal family rolled out the red carpet for the Omani state visit, estranged Prince Harry finally revealed his reasons for returning to Britain after six years in the U.S. with wife Duchess Meghan. He also answered "yes, of course" when asked if he was grieving the relationship with his father and brother, which remains severely fractured.
In an interview with GQ, recorded in September but shared by the publication on Tuesday, the prince expressed hope that he would one day reconcile with members of the royal family amid an ongoing rift.
"I think from a family perspective – again, another massively relatable issue for so many people – sibling disagreements, broken relationships between kids and their parents, kids and one parent," he said.
"With everything else that's going on in the world, the most important thing is to reconcile," the prince said.
