Drew Mestemaker struggled, completing 29-of-49 passes for 241 yards with a touchdown to two interceptions in the loss.
Oregon quarterback Dante Moore, however, did not struggle in Week 1. The projected first-round pick threw for 378 yards with three touchdowns in the win and lived up to the bill of being one of the best passers in college football.

Expectations were high in Stillwater after Oklahoma State added nearly an entire new roster under Morris, included three of the best offensive transfers available in Mestemaker, running back Caleb Hawkins and receiver Wyatt Young from North Texas.
Mestemaker said the team isn't letting a demoralizing 24-10 loss to Tulsa detail their season.
“That doesn't define our season at all and that's exactly what Coach Morris said in the locker room,” Mestemaker said. “The last thing I'm going to do is lay down and forfeit the season.”
Will Oregon football overlook Oklahoma State?
Oregon can't overlook Oklahoma State despite its rough showing in Week 1, as the Cowboys and Morris have more success than not offensively.
"You look at the scheme and it’s been effective everywhere that he’s been, whether it’s Incarnate Word, whether it’s Washington State, whether it’s North Texas and now at Oklahoma State," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. "So they’ve created a lot of points wherever they’ve been."

"Just making sure we put the necessary fluids in our body to make sure that the heat can’t drain us as much as it would anybody else," Texas-born receiver Dakorien Moore said. "In the South, that weather is different from the West Coast, definitely … I’m used to the weather so I know how to handle it. The summer workouts in high school were way worse than what we’re gonna be facing. I’ll be totally fine."
