Lil Nas X has revealed that his mother has died.
The "Old Town Road" rapper, 27, confirmed his mom Tameka Hill's death in an Instagram post on Saturday, Aug. 29, sharing nostalgic images of her and others showing them together during his childhood and rise to stardom.
"RIP TO THE BADDEST EVER! LOVE U FOREVER MOMMY. this one’s gonna hurt," he wrote in the caption.
It's unclear when or how Hill died, and her age is unknown.
USA TODAY has reached out to Lil Nas X's representative for comment.
His mother's death comes a year after his August 2025 arrest in Los Angeles after the Grammy winner was seen walking down the street in only his underwear and boots in a disoriented state.
He was charged with three felony counts of battery with injury to a police
officer and one of resisting arrest, all of which he pleaded not guilty to. He was later diagnosed with bipolar disorder.

While the "Panini" star, whose real name is Montero Hill, has largely kept details about his mother and her addiction private, he opened up about trying to get her into rehab and recovery in a January 2020 Variety story.
"I never really talk about my mom. She’s an addict so we don’t have the closest relationship. Even trying to get her better – things didn’t quite work out. But there’s still love," he told the outlet. "The biggest surprise of becoming globally famous? On the outside, everybody loves you – but on the inside, everything [feels] the same."
In the interview, he also addressed the 2018 death of his grandmother and his experience with grief, saying, "She was the first person close to me who died."
"It was devastating. And it made me a hypochondriac: I’d wake up, heart racing. It was scary," he said of the experience, which prompted him to smoke marijuana regularly. "But then I started feeling more connected with the universe, and taking everything as a sign."
In April 2021, the rapper's father, Robert Stafford, also discussed Hill's battle with addiction in an Instagram post.
"Despite what people say @lilnasx is the greatest kid a parent can be BLESSED with. Although his mom is in a struggle with an addiction she's STILL a QUEEN and he goes through great lengths to make sure we're taking care of," he wrote in the post's caption while sharing a picture of the three together.
He continued: "Those who have family members and friends dealing with addiction understands that there ain't enough money you can throw at this situation to make it right. I dont usually address personal issues publicly but felt like this need to be."
