Who will control the Texas House and Senate?
Control of the Texas House is still up for grabs as of Wednesday morning, according to data from The Associated Press. However, the Texas Tribune projects that Democrats will control it.
If Democrats win the House, the Texas Senate would be Republicans’ only remaining majority in the legislature.
The outcome of the House races will help determine how much of the new governor's legislative agenda can advance. Even with a Democratic governor, legislation must still pass both chambers of the Republican-controlled Legislature if Republicans retain their majorities.
Texas voters will see the effects of these election results across multiple areas of state government as the incoming officials take office.
