UConn won’t waste any time in honoring its latest top WNBA Draft pick, Azzi Fudd.
Fudd, who just finished her rookie season as a pro with the Dallas Wings, will be added to UConn’s prestigious “Huskies of Honor” ahead of its game on Nov. 8 against the Iowa Hawkeyes at Gampel Pavilion. The ceremony will be held about 30 minutes before tip-off at 2 p.m. ET.
Tabbed as the No. 1 overall recruit by ESPN in the 2021 class, Fudd battled injuries during her first three seasons at UConn, but was an instrumental part of the Huskies’ success in her final two years in Storrs. In the 2024-25 season, Fudd was named Most Outstanding Player at the Final Four and helped UConn win its 12th national championship. She scored 19 points in a win over UCLA in the semifinals,
then tallied 24 points, five rebounds and three steals in the national title game victory over South Carolina.
This past season, Fudd was a leader for the Huskies as they went 38-0 before falling to South Carolina at the Final Four. The product of St. John’s College High School in Washington, D.C., was a consensus All-American after averaging 17.3 points, 2.6 rebounds, 3.1 assists and 2.5 steals per game while shooting 44.7% from 3-point land — fifth-best in the nation.
Fudd was also a two-time All-Big East selection and ranks first all-time in UConn history for career free-throw percentage (92.5%).
As a rookie for the Wings, Fudd averaged 13.1 points per game before her season was cut short due to ongoing soreness in her right knee. She made the Associated Press WNBA All-Rookie Team, ranked fourth in the league in steals per game with 1.7 and 11th in 3-pointers made per game with 2.1. and won the 3-point shooting contest at All-Star Weekend.
Fudd is supposed to play in Project B this offseason.
She is a two-time UConn graduate. Fudd earned her bachelor’s degree in communication in 2024 and a Master's of Business Administration in 2026.
Fudd will be the 25th UConn women's basketball player added to the Huskies of Honor. Members include Diana Taurasi, Sue Bird, Breanna Stewart, Rebecca Lobo, Tina Charles, Napheesa Collier, Swin Cash, Maya Moore and Paige Bueckers. Fudd's former teammate, Aaliyah Edwards, was inducted last year.
