What is the story about?

As the last three months of the year approach, Arizona-based coffee chain Dutch Bros Coffee is planning to expand.

Dutch Bros is set to open a few new coffee shops by the year’s end, the company told USA TODAY.

The openings come after Dutch Bros added 48 new locations to its portfolio between April and June, 44 of which are company-owned.

Dutch Bros has about 1,285 locations in the U.S., according to its website. The company announced in May that franchise owner Jim Thompson, who has worked with the company for over 20 years, was retiring. As part of his retirement, the company planned to acquire 29 locations.

Chief Financial Officer of Dutch Bros Josh Guenser said in a recent news release that the company has multiple plans in place for growth.

"We enter the second half of the year from a position of strength, with a focused plan, strong visibility into our growth initiatives, and a clear path to turning the significant whitespace ahead of us into durable growth," Guenser said.

Where is Dutch Bros headed next?

Dutch Bros declined to provide exact opening dates for the new locations, but according to the company and the Augusta Chronicle, part of the USA TODAY Network, these are the new locations set to open by the end of 2026.
