A Florida woman has been formally indicted for "attempting to kill" Rihanna, the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office announced.
The unsealed indictment, shared in a press release Wednesday, Sept. 30, reveals Ivanna Lisette Ortiz was officially charged in connection with the incident earlier this year, during which she "fired a semiautomatic rifle at the singer’s Beverly Crest home" while Rihanna, her partner A$AP Rocky and their three children were inside, per the release.
"Every person deserves to feel safe in and around their home," Los Angeles County District Attorney Nathan J. Hochman said. "Shooting at an occupied home is a serious, violent crime that is both reckless and dangerous. It is pure luck and not a matter of restraint that no one
was killed or injured."

At around 1:20 p.m. on March 8, Ortiz allegedly drove up to the front of the house and shot "multiple times." Rihanna, 38 – who shares sons RZA Athelston, 4, and Riot Rose, 3, and daughter Rocki Irish, 1, with A$AP Rocky, 37 – reportedly purchased the Southern California mansion in December 2020.
In addition to the Grammy winner and her family, several others were on and around the property, but no one was struck by the gunfire. Ortiz was arrested shortly after, with Deputy District Attorney Alexander Bott calling the shooting "dangerous and deliberate" at the time.
Per the DA's press release, an indictment was returned June 18, formally charging Ortiz with one count of attempted murder, 10 felony counts of assault with an assault weapon and three felony counts of shooting at an inhabited dwelling or camper. She has pleaded not guilty, and her bail is set at $2.65 million.
If convicted, Ortiz faces life in prison. She is scheduled to return to court on Oct. 29 for a pretrial hearing.
Multiple outlets previously reported that Ortiz had mentioned Rihanna in a number of social media posts in the months leading up to the shooting. According to NBC Investigates Los Angeles, citing the Orange County, Florida Corrections Department, Ortiz was also arrested in 2023 on suspicion of domestic violence battery and violation of domestic injunction.
