Ranking the best NHL Frozen Frenzy games
- 5. Buffalo at Montreal, 6:30: These teams played a hard-fought seven-game playoff series last season, with the Canadiens advancing to the Eastern Conference finals in an overtime win. Montreal goalie Jakub Dobes led the way, but Jacob Fowler has started the Canadiens' last two games this season.
- 4 Washington at Carolina, 6:45: The defending champion Hurricanes take on the Capitals, with both teams expected to challenge for the Metropolitan Division title. Washington's Alex Ovechkin scored his first goal of the season on Sunday and now trails Wayne Gretzky (1,016) by nine goals for most combined regular-season and playoff goals. This is his last season in the NHL.
- 3. Boston at Sharks, 11: A chance to watch Macklin Celebrini, the Sharks' rising star and newly named captain. Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy is returning from his six-game suspension and making his season debut.
- 2. Colorado at Dallas, 8:30: The Avalanche, Stars and Wild are the elite teams in the Central Division and it's best to finish first to avoid a tough No. 2 vs. No. 3 first round. This game will play a role in that.
- 1. Pittsburgh at Chicago, 8: Connor Bedard is expected to make his season debut as Blackhawks captain after offseason shoulder surgery. Just as in his NHL debut, Bedard will face the Penguins and superstar Sidney Crosby. The Pittsburgh captain is off to a slow start this season.
